Mayor announces new head of Office of Community Wealth Building

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The mayor is expected to announce University of Richmond Professor Dr. Thad Williamson as head of the Office of Community Wealth Building for the Maggie L. Walker Initiative in a 2 p.m. conference Tuesday, according to sources.

Insiders say Williamson is tasked with making sure the recommendations from the Mayor's Anti-Poverty Commission are being enacted in the city.

Williamson previously served on that commission. He is currently a professor at the University of Richmond, specializing in leadership studies, politics, economics and law.

The mayor's press secretary sent out a release Monday night saying Jones will make a key personnel announcement at a press conference today. The release did not detail exactly what that announcement will be. It is scheduled for two o'clock at Richmond City Hall.
