CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Many around the area are prepping for the approaching winter weather.

V-DOT crews are already out on the major interstates pre-treating roads while many are heading to area gas stations and food stores to stock up for this weekend's ice storm.

Even churches are canceling Sunday morning services.

We started getting calls in the NBC12 newsroom as early as 11:00 this morning from churches across Central Virginia in anticipation of this winter weather.

Many services have been canceled due to possible danger on the roads, making it difficult to travel.

Tune in to NBC12 News at 11 for church closing updates as we get them in.
