BLACKSTONE, VA (WWBT) - The pregnant woman found shot to death in Blackstone on July Fourth was laid to rest Friday. Family and friends remembered 21-year-old Jasmine Morrison at Amelia County High School.
NBC12 obtained stacks of court documents from Henrico County, where a person of interest was arrested, and Nottoway County, where Brian Jones and Jasmine Morrison were killed. It appears drugs may have played a role in the murders.
A memorial now stands outside the Pickett Court home Jones shared with his pregnant girlfriend, Jasmine. Search warrants may provide some answers for heartbroken family members.
"I want this resolved," Jones' mother Andrea Fowlkes told us. "I want some answers about what happened to my son and his girlfriend and the baby."
The documents describe the horrific scene police found inside the home on July Fourth. Jones was found on the kitchen floor lying "in a puddle of blood" with bullet casings nearby. Morrison was found on the floor of the master bedroom also lying "in a puddle of blood."
According to the papers, one victim had four gunshot wounds and items seized near the bodies "support drug-related offenses." Things like a "bookbag with green plant material" and cash are listed on the evidence inventory.
It could be those drug-related crimes that killed Jones and Morrison. Affidavits filed in Henrico court show a citizen came forward saying on July 2, he and Jones did a drug deal with Clyde Armstrong. Police arrested Armstrong on other charges and call him a person of interest in the homicides.
The informant says Armstrong "fronted" them a 1/4 pound of pot and expected to be paid. Then, a day later and a day before the bodies were found, he says he heard Armstrong threaten Jones.
Inside Armstrong's Richmond Cool Lane home, authorities seized a bookbag and shoebox with marijuana, cash, baggies and scales.
"You never know who's living next to you," a neighbor said. "You never know. It's weird and it's scary."
At this point, Armstrong has not been charged with murder. He's due in Henrico court on those other charges next month.
A funeral for Jones is set for Saturday.
