Missing Chesterfield woman may have met man online
CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - It's been one week since a woman from Chesterfield County disappeared. We're learning that Leyla Namiranian, 41, may have gone out with a man she met online before she went missing. Chesterfield County Police were at her home on Normandstone Drive in Midlothian again Wednesday.
"I can see her house from my house, so it's pretty scary," says neighbor Jessica Fischer.
Namiranian's brother says he spoke to her the Sunday before she vanished, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. The paper reports that Namiranian's brother told her ex-husband that she was planning to meet up with a man she met online. Namiranian's ex-husband, Babak Namiranian, in Washington state had called her brother in Italy, informing him of her disappearance, according to the paper.
Leyla Namiranian is the marketing director at Altria. She didn't show up to work last Thursday, triggering her employer to call police. When detectives initially searched Namiranian's home, they say they found her car in the driveway, no signs of a struggle, and her purse and cell phone missing.
Namiranian's disappearance has left many on the quiet block unnerved. Fischer says she's now allowing her dog to walk around the house after dark, keeping watch. "I let her (the dog) out of her cage at night, and she kind of roams around," says Fischer.
"Absolutely shocking...I did not know her. I live several streets over. But this kind of thing is very A typical for this neighborhood," says Nancy Nance, who live in the area.
Namiranian's ex-husband, Babak Namiranian, told the paper that he's worried that the man she met online could have something to do with her disappearance.
Since Namiranian went missing, her Facebook page profile picture was taken down, and her friend list was changed to private.
Police remained tight-lipped Wednesday about their investigation.
