Planning commission approves road project in Richmond

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A plan to build a road that will connect the downtown riverfront to the Lee Bridge is moving forward.

The Times-Dispatch reports the Richmond planning commission approved the plans Monday.

The project known as the "2nd Street Connector" would be built from 2nd Street, near the Virginia War Memorial, to Tredegar Street by the American Civil War Center.

The planning commission also voted Monday to approve plans for a new city jail on Fairfield Way.
