Possible crash may involve Fire truck, youths on bikes
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond police are investigating a possible hit-and-run that may have involved a Richmond Fire Department vehicle and several bicyclists.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. last night at the intersection of Forest Hill Avenue and Westover Hills Boulevard.
Richmond police aren't releasing much information right now, saying the investigation is ongoing.
Officers responded to the intersection of Forest Hill Avenue and Westover Hills Boulevard Monday night, which is near a fire station.
They found two injured juveniles who'd been riding bikes.
The injuries appeared minor, but the pair was taken to Chippenham Hospital as a precaution to be checked out.
Investigators are looking into reports that a fire vehicle traveling through the intersection responding to a call, may have come into contact with the bicyclists.
Some eyewitnesses allege that the vehicle continued without stopping.
It was raining heavily at the time.
Police won't say whether the vehicle was a fire truck.
The crash team is investigating.
Police are asking any witnesses to give crime stoppers a call anonymously at 780-1000.
