Two people flown to VCU after I-85 accident

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - An update to a car accident on Interstate 85, south-bound in Dinwiddie, just south of Petersburg.

It happened just before six last night.

State police say a Ford Expedition tried to change lanes but sideswiped a Jeep Cherokee.

After hitting the Jeep, the Ford ran off the left side of the road and hit a guardrail and several trees.

The Ford's driver and passenger, were flown by med-flight to VCU Medical Center in Richmond.

They were seriously hurt, but are expected to recover.

I-85 was closed for a while, but is now reopen.
