RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - You have a chance to join Hollywood for the new "Lincoln" movie.
Richmonders are still buzzing over the news that Steven Spielberg's long-awaited movie on Abraham Lincoln will be filmed in Richmond and Petersburg.
The first role to be cast with local actors will be Tad, Abraham Lincoln's young son. This is the first of what will likely be many opportunities for Richmonders to appear in the movie.
Local actor Jordan Hardy is about to graduate from UVA after studying English and drama. He says Spielberg coming to town could be his lucky break.
"I've heard a lot of people talk about, 'hey, Steven Spielberg is coming' and all that," Hardy said. "(I'm going to) definitely prepare because he's going to need people and everything like that so I'm excited."
Jordan may not fit the nine to eleven year old description of Lincoln's son Tad but he's hoping to catch on later as an extra in another scene.
"I mean who wouldn't?" Hardy said. "Definitely, even if it's just that 3 seconds of fame walking across the scene. I'll take that."
Andy Edmunds is with the Virginia Film Office. He says over the next few months, there will be plenty of opportunities to be a part of the film.
"There will be hundreds of extras cast," Edmunds said. "There will be all kinds of horses and wagons, special effects. It's going to be a huge production."
The casting call for Tad Lincoln will be at the Greater Richmond Convention Center this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
