A coalition of gambling companies hoping to get slot machines back into Virginia convenience stores and bars kicked off its legislative push this week with a private flight for four lawmakers to Chicago.
The Department of Corrections issued a news release last week saying it had “completed the removal of restrictive housing” in Virginia’s prisons by offering at least four hours of out-of-cell time for those inmates.
Families who attended the event were able to get school immunizations, vaccinations for COVID-19 and register their kids for Pre-K through 12 grade. The event also included games, prizes, and free food to help draw people out.
Delaying cancer screenings can lead to late diagnoses and a greater risk of death. According to the Community Oncology Alliance (COA), cancer screenings across Virginia plummeted nearly 85 percent at the height of the pandemic.
