Nick Russo

Nick Russo joined the NBC12 First Alert Weather Team in October 2018. He won a regional Emmy award in 2020 for his role in NBC12’s coverage of flash flooding in metro Richmond.
Nick previously worked as a weather forecaster for NBC25/FOX66 in Flint, Michigan, WOAY-TV in Oak Hill, West Virginia, and KMID-TV in Midland, Texas.
He grew up south of Boston, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Television Studies with a concentration in Broadcast News and a minor in Atmospheric Science from Lyndon State College (now known as Vermont State University - Lyndon) in Lyndonville, Vermont. He graduated cum laude.
Nick knew he wanted to forecast the weather ever since 5th grade when he was fascinated by snowstorms, thunderstorms, and hurricanes. A dog lover, Nick adopted his dog Rose from the Richmond SPCA in November 2019.
