John Hood joined the NBC12 team in October 2021.
John was previously an MMJ/Reporter at WHSV in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. There John was awarded by the Associated Press as the Best MMJ/ One Man Reporter of the Virginias for small market stations two years in a row.
This Virginia Beach native graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University back in December 2017 with a B.S in Broadcast Journalism. During college, John worked as a producer at Mix98.1 for Wicker in the Morning.
John is happy to be back in the River City to cover the stories that matter to you and Central Virginia. You can typically find him running to Belle Isle or enjoying some crispy chicken at Kokonut Grill on the weekend.
