Hannah Jewell

Hannah Jewell is the anchor of WNEM TV 5’s Weekend Wake-Up. She has earned an Emmy and Edward R. Murrow award in her time as a journalist.

She joined the team in August, 2022. She also enjoys reporting in the community.

Hannah came to TV5 from WITI FOX 6 in Milwaukee, where she covered an NBA Championship, social rights protests, effects of the pandemic, a Democratic National Convention, and multiple mass shootings. There, she was nominated for several Emmy awards.

Prior to that, Hannah was a Detroit-based correspondent for WJBK FOX 2 News, where she interviewed leaders including Hillary Clinton and Rev. Jesse Jackson and covered rallies leading up to the 2020 election. She earned Emmy nominations for her reporting in Cuba, also for reports on Line 5 concerns, and conditions at Detroit Animal Control.

Hannah has also earned honors for her work at WZZM13 in Grand Rapids. She has also worked and interned at WILX in Lansing and HOMTV government access channel. She discovered her interest in reporting when she interned in Flint in 2010.

Hannah attended Michigan State University, majoring in journalism. She worked with the student newscast and WILX to gain experience in sports while covering MSU football and basketball. She was born and raised in Metro Detroit where she continues to live with her husband and two daughters.
