RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Many Central Virginia Residents woke up on Groundhog Day to see snow on the ground!

Enough snow fell for the Virginia Department of Transportation to treat slick spots in parts of Amelia, Chesterfield and Powhatan counties.

“Crews will plow snow if additional accumulation develops,” VDOT said in a news release Thursday morning.

Check out the snow as it started to fall in the NBC12 Weather Garden:

The snow seemed only fitting for Groundhog Day as Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter. The forecast for Central Virginia, however, has temperatures climbing back into the 60s next week.
