First Alert Weather Day Friday for heavy rain, wind

Coastal Flooding at the bay likely through the weekend.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Friday is a First Alert Weather Day due to the remnants of Ian.

A Tornado Watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for SE VA. The Middle Peninsula and Greensville counties are included. Please stay aware!

Our biggest impact in Central Virginia remains rain. We could see anywhere between 1 and 3 inches of rain into Friday evening. For many, the rain will be beneficial but some localized flooding could occur, especially towards our southeast.

A gusty NE breeze is likely through the evening. NE winds 15-25mph through the day. Winds could gust up to 40 mph.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for our far eastern counties until Saturday 4 a.m. with NE winds 20-30mph with gusts up to 50mph. Wind gusts up to 60mph will be possible in the Eastern Shore.

Coastal flooding is likely and could be long duration-- from Friday night through early next week. Below is a look at all coastal flood alerts in effect through Saturday AM. These will likely be extended through early next week.

Further onshore, flooding is possible due to multiple rounds of heavy downpours. Southeastern Virginia has a better likelihood of seeing 2-5 inches of rain.

Saturday and Sunday do not look like washouts. We will have scattered showers throughout the weekend with some dry time expected. Heavier rain is again possible Sunday evening with gusty winds.
