Masks no longer required on Hanover school buses
Employees, visitors not required to mask in school buildings
HANOVER, Va. (WWBT) - Hanover County Public Schools announced over the weekend they are lifting mask requirements on school buses, effective immediately.
Employees and visitors are also not required to wear face masks while inside school buildings.
Although there is no longer a mandate, HCPS still encourages masking up as a mitigation tactic.
“We recognize that these ongoing changes may be disruptive, and we are working to ensure they are implemented as smoothly as possible,” said the school system in an announcement to families. “While masks are no longer required, we continue to encourage mask wearing in our buildings and on our buses as a health mitigation strategy, particularly when community COVID-19 levels are high.”
Other mitigation strategies HCPS uses like staying home when sick and enforcing isolation guidelines for those who test positive for COVID-19 are still in place.
