RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - A settlement was reached in the civil suit against Richmond police after tear-gassing a crowd of demonstrators at the Robert E. Lee monument back on June 1, 2020, an attorney said.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of six protesters who claim the tear gas was administered unprovoked.

The plaintiffs reached an agreement with the city earlier this month.

Details on the settlement are limited, but more information is expected on July 1.
