RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Governor Glenn Youngkin says he wants parents to keep an eye out for “critical race theory” and “divisive practices” within Virginia schools.

Now, there’s tip line where parents can report their child’s school.

In an interview with conservative radio host John Fredericks, Youngkin said he wants to catalog instances where schools have defied his ban on CRT, though it is not part of any public school curriculum.

He pointed to the recent controversy surrounding the “privilege bingo” game in Fairfax Schools as one example, but many teachers find the tip line offensive.

Critics of the tip line question whether it was set up for anyone other than his Republican supporters.

NBC Washington reports that the Loudoun County NAACP, singer John Legend and others have called on Black parents to email their concerns and flood it with irrelevant information.

“This tip line has to be for everybody, not just for his supporters, right?” Loudoun County NAACP President Michelle Thomas told NBC Washington.

A spokesperson for the governor said the helpeducation@governor.virginia.gov email address is “a resource for parents, teachers, and students to relay any questions or concerns.”

NBC Washington reached out to Youngkin’s office about how many emails it has received but has yet to hear back.
