Danville Police arrest granddaughter, boyfriend for murder of 88-year-old
DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - Danville Police have arrested the granddaughter of a woman found dead in a house Sunday; the granddaughter’s boyfriend is also in custody.
Lindsay Mae Johnson, 24, and Nicasio Antonio Guzman, 22, both of Chapel Hill, NC, were arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder for the homicide of 88-year-old Elizabeth Morris Adkins.
Johnson is the granddaughter of Adkins, and Guzman is Johnson’s boyfriend.
Danville Police say they do not believe this was a random act, and no further suspects are being sought. Police are not releasing any information about a possible motive.
Johnson and Guzman are being held at the Danville City Jail without bond.
EARLIER STORY: An 88-year-old woman was found dead Sunday morning in what Danville Police are calling a homicide.
Around 10:45 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call saying they found a person unresponsive and believed to be dead at 368 Juless Street.
Elizabeth Morris Adkins was found “non-viable” by Danville Police inside the home; police began looking into the case as a homicide based upon evidence at the scene.
The victim’s body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for an autopsy and determination of cause of death.
Residents along Juless Street and surrounding areas who have any cameras are asked to contact Danville Police.
