Police: Fredricksburg man charged in armed robberies, making bomb threats
FREDRICKSBURG, Va. (WWBT) - A Fredricksburg man has been charged in connection to an armed robbery and a spree of bomb threats towards businesses and residences.
A victim says on July 16, an unknown man approached her outside her home in the 200 block of Bridgewater Street with a weapon and demanded her purse. The suspect then forced her into the garage and left with her belongings.
On July 24, the owner of a Valero Gas Station located in the 500 block of Jefferson Davis Highway, reported a person left a threatening note in the bathroom demanding money and threatened to burn down the business if they did not comply. According to the investigation, the suspect covered the gas station’s bathroom with a flammable liquid.
On July 26, two houses received notes demanding money and threats to blow up their residences if they did not comply. Flower beds at the homes were covered with a flammable liquid.
Police say that afternoon, Michael Blake, 53, was arrested for his involvement in the incidents. According to police, Blake has been charged with the following:
- Armed robbery
- Assault and battery
- Grand larceny
- Threats in writing
- Threat to bomb/burn
- Create/possession of bombing material
- Attempted arson
Blake is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
