NOTTOWAY COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) - According to the Nottoway Sheriff’s Office, eight burglaries were reported since the ice storm.

The Nottoway Sheriff’s Office is investigating eight burglaries/larcenies and other suspicious incidents in the northwestern end of the county since the ice storm.

The burglaries have been reported in the following areas of the county:

  • Jennings Ordinary
  • West Creek
  • Namozine
  • Good Hope
  • Patrick Henry Highway areas

According to police, all residences appeared to have been vacant, absentee owner, or vacated during the recent ice storm due to lack of power, and that the suspect(s) took advantage.

Police say a number of items were taken ranging from jewelry to firearms. A number of parked vehicles also were reported to have had the catalytic converters cut off.

The investigation is ongoing at this time and no arrests have been made.
