Six units displaced after balcony fire leads to blaze at Chesterfield apartments

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - A balcony fire that spread to other units of a Chesterfield apartment complex on Sunday has left six units displaced.

The fire started on a third-floor balcony at the Colonial Village at Waterford, 2800 block of Pavilion Place, around 6 p.m. on Sunday evening.

A second alarm was requested due to the fire being in an apartment and more manpower is needed to evacuate residents and fight the fire.

First responders have since been brought the fire under control, and they say they were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

A total of 17 people were displaced and are being assisted my the Red Cross, family and friends.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
