RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The Henrico County School Board is slated to vote on two priority redistricting proposals at its upcoming meeting.

The Jan. 28 meeting will cover two proposals that target specific challenges in the Brookland and Three Chopt districts. Adopted changes would go into effect in fall 2021.

The first proposal will aim to effectively use additional space when the Holladay Elementary School expansion project is complete in the Brookland District.

  • The proposal would move preschool students from Crestview, Dumbarton, Johnson, Lakeside, Longan and Echo Lake elementary schools to the additional space at Holladay Elementary.

The second proposal will address overcapacity issues at Colonial Trial and Rivers Edge elementary schools in the Three Chopt District.

  • The proposal would move some students to other schools, including Kaechele, Longan, Springfield Park, Twin Hickory and Echo Lake.

An interactive map of the proposals, as well as a PDF version, can be found at this link. A third proposal, which concerns elementary schools that feed into Quioccasin Middle School, will be discussed during the fall.

Families can make a public comment in two ways: giving general redistricting feedback at this link, and comments specifically for the Jan. 28 meeting at this link.
