AMBER Alert issued for abducted 5-year-old believed to be in ‘extreme danger’

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WWBT) - An AMBER Alert has been canceled for a child police say was abducted and believed to be in “extreme danger.” Police say the five-year-old has been safely located and Gage is in custody.

The alert was issued on behalf of the Charlottesville Police Department for 5-year-old Bricen Kent Mwanawabene, who police say was abducted around 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 17.

Police say Bricen is in “extreme danger” and was last seen at 1528 Cherry Avenue in Charlottesville.

Bricen was last seen wearing a grey long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, blue puff coat, blue stocking cap and black and green light up shoes.

Police said they believe he was abducted by Kerlie Johnson Gage. She has black hair, brown eyes, and is 5-foot-4, and weighs 250 pounds.

Gage was last seen driving a 1997 Red Honda CRV with Virginia tag UMM-2229.
