FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) - Loudoun County’s top elected official is calling for the removal of a Virginia state delegate who participated on the mob march on the U.S. Capitol.

Calls for the resignation of Republican delegate Dave LaRock began after he participated in last week’s rally of President Donald Trump’s supporters.

In a statement, LaRock condemned those who forced their way into the Capitol. But he blamed violence on “paid provocateurs.”

After political and community leaders called for his ouster, LaRock responded by saying his critics should focus on “the needs of the colored community.”

In an interview, LaRock said his use of the word “colored” was designed to mirror criticism he received from the local NAACP chapter, which has the word “colored” in its full name.
