RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Richmond Public Schools has released more information on the COVID-19 vaccination plans for employees.

The Richmond City Health District will be providing employees with a vaccine registration link on Jan. 14. Superintendent Kamras says once the school district has received it, they will share it with all employees through their RPS email accounts.

Superintendent Kamras encourages for employees to take the vaccine. “I acknowledge and understand the hesitation in communities of color given historic abuses by the medical profession. As a demonstration of my confidence in the vaccine’s safety, I’ll be taking it, and will do so publicly,” Kamras said in a statement on RPS direct.

Kamras also requests that employees sign up for time slots outside their normal work hours

The state will soon be transitioning to Phase 1B of vaccine rollouts, which includes essential workers and people who are 75 years of age or older.

Kamras says all RPS employees are included in Phase 1B.
