Petition to keep schools virtual, end early created in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) - A petition to encourage Chesterfield County Public Schools to remain virtual and end its school year early - in May - has been created by a “concerned citizen.”

Chesterfield County Public Schools says it plans to recommend that elementary school students be eligible to return to in-person learning starting the first day of the third marking period.

The petition says, ‘CCPS should seek General Assembly approval to end the school year early in late May at the latest, allowing seniors to graduate in mid-May.”

Chesterfield County School Board will be holding a meeting on the proposal to allow some students to return to in-person learning on Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
