RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - A Richmond company is doing its part to help restaurants survive the winter amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Evergreen Enterprises announced it is purchasing 200 patio heaters to donate to restaurants in the city.

“The pandemic has slowed the vibrant, diverse growth our community has enjoyed in recent years, and we’re happy to partner with the city to support small businesses during this challenging time,” said Founder and Chairman of the Board of Evergreen Enterprises Ting Xu. “We’re fortunate to have the sourcing capabilities and factory partners to help us deliver these sought-after heaters.”

The cold weather makes it less likely people will want to eat outside, and COVID restrictions limit the opportunities customers have to eat indoors.

Many restaurants are relying on the heaters to help keep their customers warm and stay in business.

Evergreen says they should hopefully arrive next week.

“The pandemic has changed the way entrepreneurs in Richmond do business. For many, shutting down outdoor operations would mean closing their doors for the winter,” said Mayor Levar Stoney. “With this donation, you’re giving back in a way that will resonate throughout the city. Thank you.”
