STAFFORD Co., Va. (WWBT) - The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said a man is facing several charges, including DUI and assault on law enforcement after they say he spit on deputies.
During a traffic stop on Jan. 2, deputies found the driver Tyler Bober, 36, of Stafford, with glassy eyes and slurred speech. Deputies said he refused field sobriety tests and they found an open alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle.
Bober was then arrested.
While being transported, the sheriff’s office said Bober became belligerent and began kicking the inside of the car door, along with hitting his head on the glass.
Deputies gave him first aid and “during the remainder of the encounter, Bober spit at deputies on two different occasions and continued to resist deputies.”
Bober was charged with driving under the influence-3rd or subsequent offense in 10 years, three counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, obstruction of justice with force, drinking while operating a motor vehicle, driving after forfeiture of license, driving revoked while under the influence, two counts of reckless driving, refusal of test and disorderly conduct.
He is being held in jail without bond.
