RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney Colette McEachin announced Monday that she will seek re-election.

McEachin served in the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for more than 25 years and won the position in 2019.

This past year she was part of Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney’s Task Force to Reimagine Public Safety.

If she wins re-election, McEachin said she plans to “continually create programs and policies that protect and support victims of crime, that address the therapeutic needs of individuals with mental health or substance abuse issues the prevent them from achieving their goals, and reduce incarceration and recidivism.”
