School leaders at Richmond Public Schools (RPS) voted to stay completely virtual for the second semester Monday night.
Superintendent Jason Kamras said the decision wasn’t easy.
“This is one of the most heartbreaking recommendations I’ve ever made for you and likely will make,” he said.
But it comes down to numbers, and Kamras previously cited growing cases in the area in his recommendation to stay fully virtual.
School leaders in Hanover County will be discussing plans for the second semester during a school board meeting.
Families were given the choice a few weeks ago to change their learning method for the second semester.
The school board meeting on what to do for the second semester will be held on Dec. 8.
Virginia’s Department of Health Monday put out some new guidelines for quarantine and contact tracing.
VDH also announced new contact tracing prioritization because of substantial levels of community transmission.
That includes focusing on those living or working in congregate living facilities such as prisons or nursing homes.
The Virginia Military Institute has begun work to remove a prominent statue of Confederate Gen. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.
A crew is inspecting the statue at the public military college in Lexington, where allegations of systemic racism roiled the campus this fall.
Until several years ago, some cadets were required to salute the Confederate statue.
VMI’s board voted to remove it after The Washington Post published a story describing an “atmosphere of hostility and cultural insensitivity.”
Ukrop’s fans get ready - the company’s new Market Hall is set to open on Tuesday, Dec. 8!
Ukrop’s repurposed the Bon Air Baptist Church’s Village Campus at the corner of Horsepen and Patterson.
It will not be a grocery store, but a place to get some Ukrop’s favorites like fried chicken, potato wedges and pizza.
Doors will open at 11 a.m.
