RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Police are investigating after a man was found shot to death in a vehicle at a Richmond McDonald’s.

Police were called shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, to the McDonald’s in the 6800 block of Midlothian Turnpike for the report of a person shot.

At the scene, police found Ja’Shawn Pressley, who was in his late teens, inside the vehicle in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It’s at a restaurant where everyone is going to especially this time of night...It’s sad...Just happened to be trying to go to Taco Bell to get my grandson something to eat and we ran into this,” Joyce Rainey said as she stumbled upon the scene.

About an hour after the shooting, police at the scene were forced to step in when a brawl was about to break out in the parking lot of the Taco Bell, which is directly next to the McDonald’s. Officers quickly broke up the crowd as tensions were flying high.

A huge crowd remained in the area for hours.

A wrecker arrived around 11 p.m. to haul away a gray four-door Ford. Police have not identified the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to call Major Crimes Detective J. Higgins at (804) 646-7570 or Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
