RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Dominion says they are closely watching the storm and are ready in case power outages do happen.

Dominion Energy is warning customers that power outages are likely to happen across east and central Virginia ahead of Tropical Storm Zeta.

Back in August, thousands of Virginians lost power due to the remnants of Tropical Storm Isaias.

While crews brace themselves for the storm, here are some things residents can do to prepare also:

  • Properly connect your generator
  • Charge your phone before the storm comes
  • If you see a downed power line, call Dominion. Stay inside, and do not attempt to touch the power line.

If you lose power, the quickest way to report it is through the Dominion app.

Once Dominion has an idea of where the damages are, they will send a crew out.

You can also call 1-866-DOM-HELP.
