‘Iconic’ WWII aircraft makes pit stop in Hanover

HANOVER, Va. (WWBT) - An iconic World War II B-17 bomber landed at Hanover County Municipal Airport on Monday.

The bomber is one of only five of its kind currently flying in the world.

Attendees can purchase rides and ground tours for the event, which is Sept. 14-20.

The Commemorative Air Force will also hold a “Living History Flight” in the aircraft on Sept. 18-20.

Tuesday-Thursday, the grounds will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday-Sunday, the grounds will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

This exact B-17 will be part of the celebration in Washington D.C. on Sept. 25, honoring the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.
