RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) has confirmed Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in 21 white-tailed deer in northwestern Virginia during the 2019 hunting season.

The numbers of deer with CWD were found in these counties:

  • Fredrick, (13)
  • Shenandoah (5)
  • Clarke (2)
  • Fauquier (1)

No infected deer were detected in Culpeper, Madison or Orange counties.
