High winds cause accidents on highways

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Three people are injured after a tree fell across Interstate 95 Friday, causing a multi-vehicle crash.

The crash involving a tractor-trailer happened in the southbound lanes near exit 62.

“The tractor-trailer driver I spoke with saw it coming, saw the vehicle in front of her, which happened to be a tow vehicle, and it landed right in front of him. He was right on top of it and then a couple of other vehicles got involved as well,” Chesterfield Fire and EMS Lt. Jason Elmore.

According to Chesterfield Fire and EMS, three people were taken to a hospital with injuries. They are expected to be okay.

The crash closed the left shoulder and one lane; both have since reopened.
