HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - A driver was killed in a crash that closed an interstate ramp in Henrico Tuesday morning.

State and Henrico Police were called to the crash at the on-ramp to I-295 Southbound from I-64 East around 2:45 a.m.

Police said the driver was speeding as he tried to exit, ran off the road in the heavy rain and flipped the vehicle several times.

The roof of the car was completely ripped off.

Virginia State Police confirmed the driver died at the scene and was the only person in the vehicle.

His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification.

Police are investigating.
