Virginia ranks 37th in nation for DUIs, study says

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - According to a study done by US Drug Test Centers.com, Virginia has the nation’s No. 37 highest drunk-driving arrests.

“Virginia’s rate of DUI arrests in 2018 was 253.4 per 100,000; the national average was 330 per 100,000,” a release of the findings said.

An estimated 30 people are killed in drunk-driving crashes every day in the United States.

The states with the highest DUI rates include South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, North Carolina, Mississippi, New Mexico, Maine, Washington, Alaska and Wisconsin. The states with the lowest rates Missouri, Arkansas, Connecticut, Alabama, Ohio, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Illinois and Delaware.
