RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The 42nd annual VCU Health Richmond Marathon is underway on Saturday, Nov. 16, along with the Markel Richmond Half Marathon and Allianz Partners 8k.

Pre-Race Details

Runners will need to pick up their bib number at the Health and Fitness Expo at the Arthur Ashe Center. The center is open on Thursday, Nov. 14 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. A photo ID will be required to pick up race packets.

Walk-in registration will also be available for all three events at the expo.

Post-Race Details

After the races, there will be the CoStar Post-Race Party on Brown’s Island with food, drinks, music and post-race massages for marathon and half marathon participants. The party is free and open to friends and family of runners.

Thursday, Nov. 14

4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

  • Pre-race Health and Fitness Expo, packet pick-up, and walk-up registration at the Arthur Ashe Center

5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

  • Sierra Nevada Beer Tastings at the expo

6 p.m.

  • Meet and greet with Bart Yasso, retired Chief Running Officer for Runner’s World magazine

Friday, Nov. 15

8 a.m.

  • Three-mile group shakeout run with Bart Yasso (leaving from Omni Hotel)

11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

  • Health and Fitness Expo, Packet pick-up and walk-up registration at the Arthur Ashe Center

11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • Marathon Course Bus Tour (Reservation required)

3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Meet and greet and book signing with Christopher McDougall, best-selling author of ‘Born to Run’ and ‘Running with Sherman: The Donkey with the Heart of a Hero’

5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

  • Sierra Nevada Beer Tastings at the expo

Saturday, Nov. 16

7 a.m.

  • Allianz Partners 8k start

7:30 a.m.

  • Markel Richmond Half Marathon start (Wave A) at 7th and Broad St.

7:45 a.m.

  • VCU Health Richmond Marathon start (All waves) at 5th and Grace St.

8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • CoStar Post-Race Party at Brown’s Island and at the finish line (5th & Tredegar)

11:30 a.m.

  • Half Marathon course closes

3 p.m.

  • Marathon course closes

Road Closures and Parking

Richmond police have announced parking restrictions ahead of the VCU Health Richmond Marathon.

The restricted parking zones will be put into effect on the morning of Nov. 15.

The 26 mile-long race will span through downtown and different neighborhoods on Nov. 16.
