Police identify 4 people killed in tractor-trailer crash on Route 58

COURTLAND, Va. (WWBT/AP) - Four people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 58 in southern Virginia on Oct. 17.

News outlets report that the crash early Thursday morning in Southampton County involved a tractor-trailer truck.

According to WAVY, all of the victims were from North Carolina: Dee Jay Rodriguez, 19; Eric Lee Peed, 24; Vincent Emar Ross, 19; and Keondre Thomas, 19.

Eastbound lanes of Route 58 were closed after the accident. Traffic was diverted to one westbound lane at the scene of the crash.

Police say speed was the contributing factor in the crash.
