Suspect in custody following shooting at Petersburg Walmart

2 charged after shooting at Petersburg Walmart

PETERSBURG, Va. (WWBT) - Two people have been charged following a shooting at Walmart on Crater Road in Petersburg on Thursday evening.

Police were called to the 3500 block of S. Crater Road for a fight in the parking lot and a shot being fired. A weapon was recovered at the scene and a suspect identified.

Police stopped a vehicle with a suspect inside at the intersection of Weyanoke Street and S. Sycamore.

Quincy Drevise Abeyta was charged with unlawfully shooting at a motor vehicle, unlawful discharge of a firearm, disorderly conduct and reckless handling of a firearm. He was incarcerated on a $2,500 secured bond.

Additionally, Malek Shaiheed-Fakin Lawrence was charged with disorderly conduct.

Police said a child was in the suspect’s vehicle when he was stopped by police.
