PETERSBURG, Va. (WWBT) - Police say 10 vehicles were involved in a two crashes on Tuesday morning on northbound I-95 near Bank Street.
Virginia State Police say the first crash involved four vehicles just after 6:30 a.m. One vehicle struck another from behind, creating a chain-reaction crash. One person was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
A second crash, which involved six vehicles, came as a vehicle was attempting to avoid the first crash. That driver sideswiped a vehicle and created another chain-reaction crash. Four people were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious, state police said, but everyone is expected to be OK.
Charges are pending as the crash remains under investigation.
The backup was cleared around 9 a.m.
