COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WWBT) - Colonial Heights police uncovered a suspected meth lab Tuesday morning.
A hazmat team was called to Southpark Boulevard after what appeared to be drug lab was discovered by Colonial Heights police during a traffic stop.
The hazmat team removed an item from the vehicle and charges are pending against two people who arrested at the scene.
Police were called to the area at 8:17 a.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller said it appeared multiple people were passed out in the vehicle.
An officer responded and saw the vehicle in motion and initiated a traffic stop for an equipment violation.
Chelsie C. Bottoms, 27, of Petersburg, and Cornell E. Gustus Jr, 46, of Chesterfield, were arrested and a methamphetamine manufactuering device was located in the vehicle along with other drugs and items that were sent to the state crime lab.
Gustus was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and defective equipment.
Bottoms was served four outstanding warrants from Chesterfield and Colonial Heights on drug charges.
