A 2018 Audi sedan stopped in left lane and activated its hazard lights to assist Gonzalez, who had left his vehicle while attempting to retrieve his dog.
A 2008 Nissan Altima struck the arrow board causing the sign to hit the Audi and Gonzalez, and Gonzalez died from his injuries.
The male driver of the Audi was wearing a seat belt and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The female driver and male front seat passenger of the Altima are believed to have not been wearing seat belts and were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
