RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Richmond Police responded to a shooting at 3:30 p.m. Friday that turned into a barricade situation.
A juvenile male was found shot at Forestbrook Apartments in the 5600 block of Petosky Avenue and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses said there a shootout in the parking lot.
Police in tactical gear and a SWAT team were on scene for several hours. Two men came out of an apartment of interest voluntarily and a SWAT team entered the apartment but did not find anyone inside. The scene began to clear about 7 p.m.
Police have not released any information about a potential suspect and have not said what led to the shooting.
“It’s a safe place to be but you have individuals who are coming into this area to do their dirt and then go about their business,” City Councilman Michael Jones said.
Jones represents the area and urges residents to come forward if they have any information.
“We got to take our neighborhoods back and tell them we don’t want that here and tell them to go wherever you came from,” Jones said.
