CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - A crash slowed both north and southbound traffic on Interstate 95 in Chesterfield Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. on I-95 north at mile marker 62, closing the center and right lanes.
Virginia State Police said a tire blew out on a trash truck, causing the driver to lose control. The truck was traveling southbound in the center lane, veered left and hit the jersey wall.
The trailer detached from the truck, struck the jersey wall and crossed into the northbound lanes where it overturned.
Two men were in the truck at the time. The driver was transported to the hospital with minor to serious injuries. The passenger was not injured.
The crash is under investigation and charges are pending.
