NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) - The turf course at Colonial Downs in New Kent will be named after triple-crown winner and Virginia-born horse, Secretariat.

The legendary horse was born at Meadow Stables in Doswell in 1970 and went on to become a horse racing hero after winning the coveted Triple Crown in 1973.

The Secretariat Turf Course will be ready when horse racing returns to Colonial Downs Aug. 8.
