RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - As the United States celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Declaration of Independence in 1826, it was sadly the day that two U.S. presidents - John Adams and Thomas Jefferson - died.

Five years later on July 4, President James Monroe died.
