Man shot, killed in garage; suspect arrested

LOUISA, Va. (WWBT) -The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office says a man was arrested after he shot another man in the head on Wednesday night.

The sheriff’s office says a 911 caller said two of her son’s friends were in the garage when the shooting happened just after 11 p.m.

When the sheriff’s office arrived to the area, they found the suspect - William Oddie Flannagan Jr. - at the intersection of Penta Drive and Holiday Road.

He was taken into custody and a firearm was found in the area of the rear entrance to Economy Propane on Holiday Road.

The victim - Jason Ferguson, 43, of Gordonsville - was transported to UVA Hospital where he died.

Flannagan was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A murder charge is pending.

He’ll appear in court on Tuesday, July 9.
