2 bodies recovered from Dinwiddie pond identified as missing fishermen

Police: Bodies are those of missing men

DINWIDDIE, Va. (WWBT) - State police said the two bodies that were recovered from a pond in Dinwiddie County are those of two missing fishermen.

Virginia State Police said Walker Lee Carter, 71, of Chesterfield and Calvin Baskerville, 55, of Petersburg, were found Tuesday at noon at a pond on private property in the 18700 block Old Stage Road.

The boat was pulled out around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the bottom of the pond, which was about 10 feet deep.

The cause of death for both men was determined to be accidental drowning.

Search and recovery team divers were at the scene.

Baskerville and Carter were reported missing on Sunday by family after they were last seen on Saturday to go fishing at an unknown location.

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is taking over the investigation.
