RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - On June 29, 2012, Southwest Virginians learned a new weather term: Derecho.
The violent wind storm started around the great lakes in Chicago and headed east, packing a powerful punch across the country. It crossed 10 states hitting Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. the hardest.
